Caribe Nation,
Earlier this week at our June 2026 retreat, Michelle and Sonia reached a milestone every swimmer works towards:
Their first swimming breath!
Now, breathing might not sound like a big deal.
But if you've ever struggled with swimming, you know exactly how big this moment is.
We broke this process down into bite sized pieces, after already creating a STRONG floating and pulling foundation.
[Watch that video here: Sonia and Michelle Floating Process]
Here is the 3 step process we used:
Step 1 - Standing Breath

Hold for 3.
Exhale on 4.
Lift and inhale on 5.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Step 2 - Walking Breath

Add the arms.
1 breathing pull.
1 non-breathing pull.
Build rhythm.
Build confidence.
Step 3 - Swimming Breath

Now put it together.
Lift on the first pull.
Return your face to the water.
Take one non-breathing pull.
Repeat.
There were missed breaths.
There were swallowed mouthfuls of water.
There was frustration.
Then something changed.
After MANY practice attempts,
The timing became smoother.
And for the first time, both women were breathing while swimming.
Because they trusted the process and began trusting the water.
The lesson?
Build a proper foundation first.
Don't rush breathing.
Just keep practicing - it will happen
Remember, the only way to fail, is to give up!
BIG Love,
Coach Jeff
