The #1 Reason You’re Not Progressing in the Pool (And What To Do About It)
The Exact Process We Use To Know When You're Ready to Level Up
Learning to swim is hard.
Move too fast… and you lose your foundation.
Move too slow… and you lose your confidence.
Worse?
An instructor tells you, “You’re ready for the next skill,”
but your brain is screaming: “NOOOO!”
This exact moment is why so many adults quit.
Because no one gave them a system to answer one simple question:
“How do I know if I’m ready to move on?”
We can help.
Enter: The Threshold of Comfort

The Blue Zone is Your 100% Comfort Zone
This is the zone in the water where:
You feel 100% at peace
You stay fully in control
You do NOT experience fear, panic, or hesitation
When you're just starting, your comfort zone is tiny. Think: sitting on the steps, holding the wall, shallow end only.
The mistake?
Most adults try to leap out of that zone way too soon... and trigger their panic response.
Once your nervous system goes into fight, flight, or freeze, progress becomes impossible.
Worse, we end up putting ourselves in a very unsafe and unpredictable situation.
In our image above, this is the “Impulse Reaction”
So here’s the real goal in learning to swim:
❌ Not "doing more"
✅ Expanding what feels safe and normal
We call this: Increasing Your Threshold of Comfort.

Here’s what that looks like:
Old Way: Forcing progress and wondering why you aren’t learning
New Way: Expanding your comfort zone so EVERY activity you do in the water is 100% within your comfort zone.
THIS is where the real progress and magic happens.
So, how exactly do you do that?

Learning to swim is NOT about learning strokes.
Learning to swim is NOT about treading water in the deep end.
Learning to swim is about developing a relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, & the water.
Learning how to BE and STAY in control in the water every moment you are in it.
When we do that, we can achieve learning strokes.
When we do that, we can achieve treading water in the deep end.
We believe in you.
BIG Love,
Coaches Jeff and Meredith
